Spectoda Gateway GEN2: keeping lighting installations under control remotely
Spectoda Gateway GEN2 connects a local lighting installation to Spectoda cloud services and adds remote monitoring, service access, time-based automations, and data-driven operation.

In smaller installations, it is often enough for the lights to simply work. They turn on, respond to control, keep the selected scenes, and run locally without unnecessary infrastructure.
In larger or long-term projects, additional questions naturally appear over time. What is happening in the installation right now? Are all luminaires working as they should? Can a problem be solved without sending a technician on site? And do we have data that helps us optimize operation further?
Spectoda Gateway GEN2 was created for exactly these situations. A new and improved version.
A local system extended with remote control
Spectoda is built on a wireless mesh network without a central control unit. Controllers and other elements communicate directly within a decentralized network that is flexible, scalable, and not dependent on a single control point.
This is important: Gateway is not the element the installation depends on to keep running. Local control remains with the controllers and the mesh network, including projects where controllers manage luminaires through DALI integrations.
Gateway GEN2 adds another layer where broader installation oversight makes sense. It connects the lighting installation to Spectoda cloud services and opens the way to remote control, remote service, time-based automations, and Spectoda Analytics.
Fewer site visits, faster response
Lighting settings do not change only once during normal operation. Building modes, space usage, opening hours, user requirements, and seasonal settings all change over time.
Without remote access, even a small adjustment can turn into a service visit. With Gateway GEN2, the installation can be managed more flexibly: you can check its status, adjust modes, verify system behavior, or handle a service situation without being physically present on site.
This saves time, coordination, and costs while helping keep the installation in good condition over the long term.
Data instead of estimates
The second major advantage comes when Gateway is connected to Spectoda Analytics.
Data gives you an overview of the current luminaire status, energy consumption, costs, and achieved savings. Lighting management no longer has to rely only on assumptions or user feedback, but on specific information from real operation.
This helps identify areas where lights are unnecessarily on, improve time schedules, and continuously tune lighting according to how the building is actually used.
Where Gateway makes the most sense
Spectoda Gateway GEN2 is especially suitable for installations that are larger, operated over the long term, or divided into multiple zones.
Typical examples include office buildings, schools and universities, sports halls, industrial and logistics facilities, or larger commercial spaces.
In these projects, light is no longer only a technical function. It becomes a system that needs to be stable, manageable, transparent, and economically measurable.
Spectoda Gateway extends a local lighting installation with remote monitoring, service access, and data-driven operation. It does not take over the role of a central control unit. It complements the ecosystem where greater control and long-term operational confidence are needed.
If you want to keep lighting under control remotely, respond to service needs faster, and better understand how lights are actually used in the building, Gateway GEN2 is a natural next step.
