A maternity ward where light helps you to relax and recover!

The AGEL Šternberk maternity ward was significantly modernised in 2025. New family rooms were created to provide a quieter, more comfortable environment for mothers and newborns. Lighting also became an important part of the innovations. Specifically, biodynamic Spectrasol lights, controlled by Spectoda technology.

The goal? To support natural biorhythms, improve sleep and foster an environment in which new mothers can feel safe and comfortable.

What were the requirements?

Conventional LED lighting can be too harsh and cold. This can be particularly disruptive in the evening or at night. The maternity ward was therefore looking for a solution that would:

- promote healthy sleep patterns;
- adapt to the natural course of the day;
- allow for undisturbed baby care, even at night;
- create an atmosphere of calm and well-being.

The solution was biodynamic lighting controlled by Spectoda.

Spectrasol lights naturally adapt to the human biorhythm by changing their temperature and intensity throughout the day. Thanks to Spectoda's smart control, the lights work automatically, without staff intervention. The result:

- A smooth transition between lighting modes during the day and night
- Colour temperature controlled according to the time of day
- A soft night light that does not disturb sleep or melatonin production
- Quiet and stable operation that does not disturb rest

Light through the eyes of patients:

In the morning and at midday, bright full-spectrum light helps the body and mind to start the new day.

In the evening, the light switches to warmer tones that induce calm and promote sleep.

At night, a dim orange light is activated to allow baby care without disturbing the night-time routine.

The result is calm, regeneration and a pleasant atmosphere.
