How to control digital LED strips with Spectoda

Autor: Denisa Jindřichová, 14. 10. 2025

The technology behind Spectoda

All things considered, Spectoda was born from a single sentence: "How can we make digital LEDs work smartly, wirelessly, and without turning people gray?"

From the beginning, we had a clear goal: to control digital LED strips reliably and wirelessly. Why? Because this isn't just about light. It's about movement, color, atmosphere. LEDs that create an effect, not just a "click."

What are digital LED strips?

A digital or addressable LED strip (you may also come across the term Neon Pixel) is a little gem among lights. Each diode has its own "address" and can be controlled independently. So no uniform lighting as with classic strips. Here you can draw gradients, waves, animations, even data visualizations.

Why Spectoda?

Most traditional lighting systems rely on a central unit and data stream (e.g., via DMX). At Spectoda, we did it differently. Smarter. Each of our controllers has enough "brains" to run animations locally, without a server and without delay.

This means greater reliability, lower latency, and completely smooth effects. While DMX runs at 25 frames per second, Spectoda can handle up to 100 FPS. Yes, you can tell the difference.

What LED strips do we support?

Our controllers are compatible with most common digital LED strips:

  • WS2812B
  • WS2815
  • WS2811
  • WS2814
  • WS2805
  • SK6812
  • APA102

And all those that use NEOPIXEL or SPI protocols

Controllers for digital LED strips

  • SC Pixel Mini - A small, smart controller for one LED strip (5V or 12V). Suitable for interiors, smaller installations, or design elements where every centimeter counts.
  • SC Pixel Pro - A more powerful controller that can handle up to 2400 pixels on four channels. Also available in an IP68-rated version – so feel free to use it outdoors. Ideal for larger installations.
  • SC Pixel Master - A controller that connects Spectoda to DMX, ArtNet, or sACN. So we can be part of your lighting empire, no matter how old or robust it is.

Unlimited openness

We are not Apple or Microsoft. We don't want to lock you into a closed ecosystem. Spectoda is about connectivity. That's why we can integrate with traditional protocols such as DMX, ArtNet, or sACN, connecting the world of digital creativity with the proven systems you may already have.

Want to give it a try?
