5 Reasons Why Wireless Lighting Control Is Future

Autor: Eliška ze Spectoda, 17. 8. 2023

We believe that the change to wireless light control is inevitable. This is for several reasons: it saves energy, offers greater flexibility in control, is easy to install, simplifies the lighting infrastructure and more.

1. Saving Energy and Resources

Wireless lighting often uses advanced technologies such as energy-efficient LED lights and intelligent sensors. These elements contribute to efficient energy use and allow lighting scenes to be adapted to the current conditions. For example, lighting can automatically adapt to the level of natural light in the room and continuously balance it. This leads to reduced energy consumption and brings savings in the long term.

Material reduction (see below) also counts towards savings, saving time, money and nature.

2. A Stable and Reliable network

People are usually afraid that wireless technology is unreliable. However, if there is a fault in the wireless network and you use a decentralized mesh network like Spectoda, a malfunction of one element does not mean a problem in the whole network. Each individual light contributes equally to the computing power of the network. And with that, they are independent of each other. Thus, if a fault occurs on one, it does not compromise the functionality of any other light in the vicinity.

3. Simple Infrastructure and Material Reduction

Thanks to wireless signal transmission technology, there is no need to run cables from the lights to the switchboard and you do not need to connect the lights to each other to achieve synchronisation. So, if you want to connect lights with sensors or control them in groups, you reduce cables, switchboards, connectors and insulation material.

This is particularly useful for existing wiring systems that were not designed with control in the first place. You can easily implement the system in already installed lights without the need for new wiring.

With a smart system you also avoid a central unit like a computer that would have to process information from sensors, for example with Spectoda, the lights communicate directly with the sensors and can pass information between each other.

4. Control Flexibility

The possibility of remote control and programming brings a high degree of flexibility. Users can easily switch on/off, control intensity, form groups, change colour effects in the case of RGBW LED strips or create scenes according to their preferences, directly from their mobile device or computer. In this way, you can tune the required atmosphere or set the conditions for indoor and outdoor work.

In the case of Spectoda, clients primarily use the Spectoda App, which is available free on the App Store and Google Play. For more complex and advanced functions, we are developing Spectoda Studio. With it, you can reconfigure and map the network itself or create a light show.

5. Updates and Fixes Remotely

A wireless control system like Spectoda allows you to program remotely to add new security features, software functions and other extensions to your entire fleet of installed devices at once. That way you can keep up with the times and constant, rapid evolution.

You respond faster to real needs and, most importantly, extend the life of your equipment.

Using wireless lighting, you can achieve innovative design, energy efficiency and a better user experience in the lighting world. Be part of this inevitable revolution with us.
